Welcome!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hi there! I’m Lauren & I’m the owner, boss lady, lead planner & coordinator here at George & Co. Welcome to the George & Co blog! I thought we should start off with a little bit about me. Because we’ll become close mates while planning your wedding - I can almost guarantee it.

I grew up with the most hospitable, house-proud, servant-hearted and selfless mother who loved to host & loved to celebrate. From as young as I can remember, I had a big hand in planning my birthday parties, family nights, holidays, and anything in between. I made myself a badge that said “Events Organiser” that I wore very proudly at the ripe age of 10 (nerd) and mum swore that I’d get into event management when I was older. After many other career tries, I guess it pays to say that mum is always right.

Years later, I’ve married into a family with a mother-in-law who is equally as hospitable and absolutely loves a gathering - and does them well. I’ve been lucky enough to be utterly surrounded by women who plan and host kick-ass events - I was destined from the very beginning.

I planned my own wedding from scratch, and it was everything I could have wanted. While I’d heard from other brides that planning their weddings had been incredibly stressful, I loved it. Every. Single. Second. I thrived off of juggling vendors, conversations, coming up with innovative ideas and improving the experience for my guests. And while I absolutely love being married, I often found myself yearning to do it again.

I studied with the intent of working with animals once I’d graduated. The initial dream was a veterinarian, but I soon realised that there was something missing and I wasn’t completely fulfilled. I was halfway through a BSc, so completed the degree and decided to take a gap year at the end of it - working alongside my husband as his administrator in a local real estate firm. I also took on a job as a property stylist, which further increased my love of design and taught me more about tablescapes, colour matching, vignettes and other core design elements.

It was around this time that I found the Wedding Academy. An ad popped up on my Facebook feed after I’d been complaining to my husband that I wanted to work in weddings but didn’t know how. Scary, but awesome. And since then, I’ve achieved a diploma in wedding & event planning and started my company.

George & Co. was created after deciding mid 2019 that I wanted nothing more than to work in the wedding industry, use my organisational skills and help couples to create the wedding day of their dreams, and man, am I so glad I took the plunge.

A few facts to get to know me a little bit better:

  • I’ve never been to a wedding I haven’t cried at!

  • I have a BSc majoring in animal science - very useful in the wedding industry

  • I’m a type one diabetic and have been for 15 years

  • My favourite part of any wedding is the walk down the aisle – and the look on their partner’s face!

  • I’m a qualified music teacher & played in an acoustic wedding band for years before becoming a planner

  • I’m fuelled by coffee – my drink of choice is a cappuccino & you’ll often find me working smack bang in the middle of a bustling cafe.

  • I’m a big, big fan of florals, fresh or dried

  • I live in the country and absolutely love rural weddings. Nothing makes me happier than slapping a giant marquee in the middle of a paddock and building a bespoke venue from the ground up - cowpats and all

If you’ve got any questions about me or what I do, I’m always up for a chat - slide into my DMs or flick me an email.

I’d absolutely love to get to know you too! Thank you for your all your support so far xxx
